Design, Italian Style (MMC 4936) in Florence, Italy, June 26 – August 5, 2016
For Public Relations students, Design, Italian Style (MMC 4936) serves as an equivalent to Public Relations Design (PUR4101), which is a required course.
In this course we will study the power, beauty and influence of Italian design in a historical and global context, from the Renaissance to the latest in contemporary Italian graphic design, advertising, art, architecture, fashion, film, furniture and automotive design.
Students will also learn basic Adobe Creative Cloud design software, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
You will live in the heart of Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and home to some of the most magnificent art and architecture in the world. Sip your morning espresso on the terrace of a quaint café. Stroll through beautiful piazzas past fountains and ancient statues, down alleyways lined with stylish boutiques, cozy restaurants serving incredible food, and amazing gelaterias. Six weeks studying in Florence, traveling throughout Italy and the Tuscan countryside, getting to know the friendly and welcoming Italian people, is an experience not to be missed.
You may take up to 10 USF credit hours in Florence. All grants and scholarships (except Bright Futures) may be used.
For those who are interested, Design, Italian Style (MMC 4936) will count as 3 Mass Communications elective hours toward the new undergraduate Certificate in Visualization & Design. Students may also take PGY 3820C Introduction to Digital Photography while in Florence, which will count as 3 Arts elective credit hours toward the Certificate.
